Gerrard Haridsty – Owner
The Fix Salon prides itself on “in salon” and “out of salon” training. All of our stylists are Schwarzkopf Colour Master certified through Schwarzkopf, as well as in-salon classes with the top Schwarzkopf educators, whom are close friends of mine. I believe in supporting my staff by matching class costs with my stylists for classes locally and abroad. We have a training program all new staff must complete before being on the floor servicing clients. It is a team environment that provides a fun, comfortable working environment.
The salon prides itself on meeting and exceeding clients’ expectations: “We want you to love your new hair, from the time you leave the salon, to when you get home and are doing it yourself, and beyond!” The Fix stylists are all highly technically skilled, but all are very unique in personality. This makes The Fix unique in the way that there is a stylist for everyone!
This process starts at the front desk, which by asking the right questions tries to match new clients to the ideal stylist to meet their needs. The Fix is also a salon that promotes the idea of clients exploring what different stylists have to offer, if they would like: “You never have to feel weird about booking a different stylist for next time, if you want to try out someone different – it is welcomed and appreciated.” We look forward to your first visit and all of your repeated visits to the salon.
The Fix is a community-oriented salon, with an eye for helping the population and environment in which we thrive. Since the opening of The Fix we have raised over $60,000 for local charities through events such as our Christmas fundraising and fashion shows. We also pride ourselves on donating over $3000 a year in services towards community fundraising events. In an effort to be ‘greener’ we have switched to reusable bags, are very conscientious about our recycling program, and in a salon in which the laundry has to be on all day we are sure to do all our washing in short cold water cycles and keep our dryer in good working order. It’s all these little things that can really add up and make a difference in our impact on the environment! We are very excited to be advertising our new line of products from Unite which are phosphate-free, paraben-free, sulphate-free and vegan, as well as already carrying our all natural line from Schwarzkopf called Essensity.
I graduated top of my class at the Paul Da Costa Aveda Academy in 1997 at the age of twenty one. From there I went to work and learn with Greg Young – a winner of the prestigious Contessa Awards and head educator for both Redken and Wella. I also took the opportunity to work with Chris Baron, the head education director for Redken in North America, and Philip Ferreira – a Wella platform artist.
I have been a published winner in a Goldwell Color Competition. I took many cutting classes in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, Vancouver, as well as in Europe and South America. I helped out backstage at the ABA’s Schwarzkopf kiosk. I am the creative director of my salon, and held this position in other salons previously. I am constantly teaching classes and spear-heading photo shoots with myself and other stylists, as well as entering competitions, all in an effort to challenge myself and keep the learning process alive! I am constantly trying to perfect my skills as well as challenge myself b competing in hair competitions. My number one goal is to provide a salon where I can mentor, inspire, and train the up and coming future hair stylists, as well as learn from them. I am always learning and will be on the journey of perfecting my craft.
“When you think you’re the best is when you need to quit.”
